Rodney Mullen is known by many as the godfather of skateboarding due to the many tricks he created that many skateboarders perform today. Yoshy Ryu, drawn by GlassBell
When Rodney first started skateboarding, at the age of ten, he had promised his father that the first time he got hurt he would stop skateboarding. This only fueled Rodney into making sure everything he tried was calculated perfectly. He has gone through many changes as a skateboarder; he has gone through many skateboard companies such as World Industries, which he created along with Steve Rocco. Then he was a part of Plan B before creating Enjoi, and finally creating Almost and Tensor trucks. Many people don't know that Rodney Mullen himself created the modern skateboard shape. It originally was very short, and then it became a huge rectangular shape before Rodney smoothed out the edges allowing skaters to do more tricks more fluidly.
